My challenge was driving around nearby area for finding a nice location! I strongly believe that photography it is not just having a nice and expensive camera/ gear. If you don’t have creativity all of equipment may become useless. Sometimes with the simple things around we can create a beautiful piece of artwork. Lets walk around and inspired by the colors, texture and shapes!

A month ago I tried to challenge myself during an editorial shooting. This is my first post on my personal blog placed on my personal website :) First of all I am going to tell you my journey: I’m a photographer who enjoys telling a story through photography. People interest me. Their stories, personalities and where they come from. There is a mystery to discovering people. Discovering how their family and origins have shaped who they are. It’s a privilege to tell an expressive narrative through the lens of a camera. Their stories, personalities and where they come from. There is a mystery to discovering people. Discovering how their family and origins have shaped who they are. It’s a privilege to tell an expressive narrative through the lens of a camera.

I was born in Iran and studied photography and in 2010, I immigrated to Australia with my husband and now reside in Melbourne.

My first group excibition March 2002- Tehran/ Iran

I ventured into photography at 20, with a manual, Yashica FX-3, 35 mm camera. Photojournalism was my first love, but as l explored who l was, storytelling and exploring narratives became a major part of the work l undertake now.

From Bam Earthquake Series

Moving into Digital photography l used a Nikon D40, focusing largely on wedding photography often having to me mindful to the challenging of taking photos within an Islamic/Muslim environment and the culturally sensitive issues regarding dress, religion and the law. I became interested in capturing women in wedding dress in Karaj in Iran and have an extensive portfolio of photos over many years. (will exhibit in Head on Photo Festival Sydney 2015)

From Iranian Wedding Series

I worked in a number of studios and began using a Canon Eos 5D Mark II which allowed me to further my ability to have more diversity in my range of work. I began to realize that living in Iran posed challenges to my photography that l was passionate about due to Islamic rule so l applied for a permanent visa to Australia in 2008 in order to live my dream. In 2010, we were accepted, and in November we moved to Australia.

From Orange is the Warmest color Series

I began photography here focusing on portraiture in order to follow my dreams, follow my heart and feel fulfilled telling a story through the photos I take.
